MillerKnoll brings coveted vintage posters back to production


ZEALAND – MillerKnoll is bringing some of his greatest hits back to production, bringing graphic art to life from legendary collaborations with some of the world’s most famous designers and illustrators.

Selected pieces are now available as framed prints by Herman Miller and Design Within Reach, both members of the MillerKnoll Collective. The posters can be ordered online and will be on display in physical stores across the country in November.

The collection features a range of aesthetics and styles, including designs by George Nelson and Associates, Phillip Mitchell, and Armin Hofmann.

“Reintroducing Herman Miller’s archival graphics as a collection has been a long-standing dream for the brand,” said the company’s director of global archives and brand heritage, Amy Auscherman.

“Posters and advertisements are always our favorites when we have them available for purchase, loan them to museum exhibits, and welcome visitors to our archives in western Michigan.”

MillerKnoll was once Herman Miller, before the company bought Knoll and changed his name to mean the merger in July. The artwork is solely an archival product of Herman Miller, headquartered in Zeeland.

“The graphics are timeless and accessible as works of art for any home or office, and we are excited to add the beloved designs to our expanding art category offering,” said Debbie Propst, President of Global Retail.

The collection spanned from 1949 to 1979 and spanned a host of product advertisements and brand nostalgia, including the work of Irving Harper – credited with the original Herman Miller logo design – and a variety of George pieces. Nelson and Associates, a specialized design team that operated from 1947 to 1963.

“The strong representation of this period at Herman Miller shows how much Nelson’s team contributed to the brand,” the company wrote in a statement.

The sizing and material composition of each poster has been carefully selected.

“We have closely referenced examples from the Herman Miller Archives to faithfully recreate these iconic pieces of graphic design,” said Auscherman. “From color matching to paper selection, no detail was too small to consider.

“It’s exciting to now see this work recontextualized into works of art and accessible to design fans around the world.”
